aniw. i went sitex! seems big, n i cldnt finish walking coz was gg to meet mummy for dinner. the hainanese curry rice at bendemeer is GOOD! coz i like the curry sauce haha.

this time round, the exam mood hit me onli pretty late. as a result, many things nv finish studying and i ended up slping at WEE hrs again. i din even slp at all for my tax paper.. went in str to take exams at 9am. was half seh-ed and hand shaking like mad, cldnt write properly at first.. aniw lesson learn. MUST SLEEP B4 exams lah. but then again im the kind who cant slp if i havent finish studying.. so ya.

RESOLUTION--> must be on my toes w school wor throughot the sem!!

aniw. tml is SITEX! @ expo! dear is working, i'll be gg over to ga jiao hehe. Jewl is working at Sony Ericsson booth too. so i got 2 ppl to ga jiao! lol. i shall go at 11am and be one of the kiasu ppl to rush in when the door opens LOL. (so typical sg auntie-ish i noe =P)

not sure what im eyeing this time round tho. wallet no $$ liaoz =S But shall juz go see look see look see ba. afterall, i've been gg every comp fair w/o fail. its FUN to update oneself with the latest techno gizmos dun u think? hee. some of the new toys are like so out-of-the-world kind that ppl prob nv tot possible ones. but then the px also very out-of-the-world lah. oh wells. time=money in IT..

I cant seem to concentrate todae.. onli managed to read a few pgs of law =S

I'm traumatised. and its not coz of the exams yet. YET.

i mounted curb when this big 199 bus came opp me along the rd into NTU fr Jalan Bahar. think i buarred sw's 2 tyres =S=S=S (if u ever read this.. im really really sorry! )

and on the short trip back fr JP to hall, i went passed TWO orange lights. and both junctions had red light camera! tho i dun think i kena-ed, i really hope they did not snap my pic. otherwise it will be like what mic say, A very expensive polaroid! (12pts + $120 fine i think)

altho i have this theory (or rather, hypothesis) that something needs to happen to trigger the red light cams. as in, they cant possibly be taking fotos during each orange-turn-red-light timings rite? so usually when ppl chuang red lights, they wld speed up and mayb THAT is the trigger? so for me, i wld juz travel along the same speed or slow down instead..

someone else's theory for avoiding the red light cam is to brake/slow down after crossing the stop line, so if the cam do flashes, it will juz take the car pic w/o the car plate no. which kinda make sense. at least to me la. or mayb its a combi of the two theories? what u think? haha.
but then again, if u too suddenly brake, ppl behind u who also chuang-ing red light might juz bang str into ur car back (not v high chances but it cld v well happen) then how? ouch. i cant imagine.

moral of story: dun chuang red lights. or better yet, dun drive.

and there i was, always commenting on the drivers in ntu.. it is indeed not easy to drive. so resolution: stop commenting on ppl's lousy driving/parking. im no better myself. tho i can get more steady after driving a few more times prior. but still, the fact is that i seldom drive. oh wells.

I WANT A CAR. and yet i dun wan to own one coz its too expensive to maintain it. contradictory.

I WANT TO RENT A CAR then. but then i'll be super broke after that. another contradiction.

irritating. now i cant study. been playing games all day/nite.

oh but i ate Fish & Co at JP todae. its Michelle's bdae (actually all this happened yesterdae, since its a new day @ 5am now..) and she wanted to eat out. so Shyong wei, Lichang, Chee Heng, Sonia and me went along. they have 10% discount for bdae ppl plus minus 3 days of the actual day i think. and free one scoop icecream for the birthday girl. we were super bloated after finishing our food, and mic cldnt quite finish her ice cream, so i get to eat a few mouthful of it hee. sinful, but nice. vanilla icecream, and its the nice nice kind. tasted like Movenpick ones..

my bdae is coming too. in 4 days now. im FOUR DAYS away fr being TWENTY. i dun want! i wan run away. but time will still catch up w me. im gg to join the Lao Ren ju le bu soon. so resolution #2: no more suaning lao rens. esp ppl who are 26 or 27 years old! haha.

dunoe wat to do on 19 or 20th nov. oh ya Gor, if u are reading this.. u free on 19th nite? want come boon lay eat dinner w me? hee. coz i got paper on 21st, so 20th nite is not a very gd time.. Msg me if u see this in time kk =)

ok la. i shall end off here le. its 5.10 in the morning, and my roomie has gone off to bed. shl i attempt to do more wk, or play some games n go to zzz. i dunoe. decide later.

hihi again. its interesting that i tend to blog more during times i shlnt, and not blog when i actually can afford the time!

rah. exams are coming, if u dun alreadi know. but looking forwd to 28 dec (last paper) and 3 dec (after DnD canvassing and jcrc chalet @sentosa). so mani things to look forwd to exams.. IH, DnD stuff and more hall stuff. and of coz. HOLIDAYING in bkk~ think tt is more or less confirmed, except that i hav not yet formally asked my mum haha. oh wells. shall "inform" her after everyting's booked hehe. in case it turns out like the LAST TIME again.

been gaining ALOT of weight lately. and i do mean ALOT. hitting back the same wt as erm, sec 1 or 2 (the times i was in TAF). and my mum had to rub it in, saying tt im growing fatter each time she sees me. and considering that she onli sees me after every 2wks or so. it is probably true. (coz i cant quite gauge by looking at myself. also coz my judging of everyting incl sizes and distances aint v gd =P)

eek. exams are coming. 20th bdae is coming. wonder if anything funnie or surprising wld happen this yr. its rite in the middle of exams so by right it shl be safe. but by left, ppl have been hinting otherwise. ah watever la. im juz NOT GOING into any pond or lake or watever. NEVER.

oh ya. did i mention? maths is KILLING me. slowly, but surely. and my first 2 papers are maths. < 2wks to study now. HOW LA. cham. ok shall get off comp soon (been saying tt since a few hrs ago. but ya.)

The Law of the Garbage Truck

How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood?
Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day?
Unless you're the Terminator, for an instant you're probably set back on your heels.
However, the mark of a successful person is how quickly he/she can get back her focus on what's important.

Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. I learned it in the back of a New York City taxi cab.
Here's what happened.

I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station.
We were driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car's back end by just inches!

The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, whipped his head around and he started
yelling bad words at us.
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly.
So, I said, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'

And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger,
and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it.
And if you let them, they'll dump it on you.
When someone wants to dump on you, don't take it personally.

You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
You'll be happy you did.
So this was it: The 'Law of the Garbage Truck.'
I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me?
And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people: at work, at home, on the streets?
It was that day I said, 'I'm not going to do it anymore.'
I began to see garbage trucks.
I see the load they're carrying. I see them coming to drop it off.
And like my Taxi Driver, I don't make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on.

One of my favorite football players of all time, Walter Payton, did this every day on the football field.
He would jump up as quickly as he hit the ground after being tackled.
He never dwelled on a hit. Payton was ready to make the next play his best.
Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting.
Good parents know that they have to welcome their children home from school with hugs and kisses.
Teachers and parents know that they have to be fully present, and at their best for the people they care about.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take over their day .
